The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of City streets in Marion. Maintenance activities include scheduled maintenance of the City's infrastructure, snow and ice control, and response operations to storm and flooding events.

Streets crews focus on street preservation (crack sealing) and street maintenance (smaller concrete street patch repairs). Scheduled repairs to City streets are prioritized based upon traffic volumes and level of infrastructure deterioration. This seasonal work is typically completed from March to November.

If you see a section of pavement that is in need of repair, submit a request or call 319-377-6367 between 7 a.m. - 4 p.m, Monday-Friday.

Street Sweeping

Street sweepers are in operation on a seasonal basis, which is usually March to December. In the spring, City streets are swept several times to clean off the accumulation of debris from the winter months. The City’s arterial and collector streets are swept on a monthly basis in the spring and fall. Residential streets are swept once during the summer.
