COVID-19 Response: 

The Public Services Department office will remained closed to the public until June 15, 2020.

Residents may call the Public Services office at 319-377-6367 for assistance or use the link below to email us.

Recycling Drop-off Center hours:

  • Tuesdays: noon - 5:45 p.m.
  •  Saturdays: 8 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. 

Yard Waste Drop-off Facility hours:

  • Weekdays: 7 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. (on Tuesdays until 5:45 p.m.)
  • Saturdays: 8 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.

Curbside garbage and recycling collection will continue as scheduled. Please be sure to have bins at the curb before 7 a.m. on your collection day. Due to shift changes, you may notice your garbage being collected earlier than usual.

Bulk item collection is suspended for the time being.

ABOUT US

The Public Service Department is responsible for maintaining the City’s infrastructure a safe, clean and efficient manner.

The department is responsible for:

  • Street repair and maintenance
  • Traffic control 
  • Street cleaning
  • Snow and ice control
  • Street signage
  • Storm and sanitary sewer maintenance
  • Garbage/recycling/yard waste collection

The Public Service Department’s objective is to provide city maintenance services in an efficient and responsive manner. The department includes 35 full-time and 2 part-time employees.
