As part of the recently completed Zoning Code update, all City zoning districts will have new names; however, the permitted uses and development standards for many districts, particularly the residential districts, will not substantially change. Because the zoning districts are being renamed, every property in Marion must be “rezoned” into the new districts. The intent of the recent Code update is to clarify the development standards, simplify the development process and increase transparency, simplify zoning categories and better align zoning districts with surrounding areas.

The City of Marion is hosting a series of public open houses to present proposed updates to the entire Zoning Map that affects the entire community as a result of the creation of new zoning classifications that were completed in late 2018.  These open houses will be held at various locations in the community for the convenience of the public.  You are invited to attend one or all open house meetings.  The proposed zoning map updates reflect the existing land uses in addition to the long-term goals and objectives of the Marion Comprehensive Plan.

In addition to sharing information about the scope and process of the project, city staff welcomes initial comments on what will be an extensive public input process.  Additional open house dates / times will be posted below.
