The Marion Fire Department is dedicated to maintaining the utmost level of emergency response services to the citizens of Marion and Marion Township. The MFD’s superior level of integrity and sense of duty are what drive the department to maintain the high level of service the citizens of Marion have come to expect. Through reliable response and public safety awareness the MFD can always be counted on to reduce loss of life and property in its community.
- MFD is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) non transport department
- MFD is a combination department that employs 38 career and 25 paid-on-call staff
- Composed of 2 Fire Stations. We are in the process of building a 3rd station.
- MFD has a 76 square mile response area made up by the City of Marion and unincorporated Marion Township (through outside 28E agreements)

The Marion Fire Department Career firefighters are Civil Service employees and must successfully complete Civil Service testing prior consideration. Paid-on-call personnel are not Civil Service employees.
