Both playgrounds were replaced as part of the annual equipment replacement program and support the City’s commitment to safe, inclusive and engaging play environments for all children. With Council approval, the next anticipated playground replacement project will be Gill Park in 2026.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected according to the normal schedule all week. The Yard Waste Drop-off Facility and Recycling Center, located at 195 35th Street, will be closed on Tuesday.

The Marion Police Department is hosting a coloring contest to coincide with its trick-or-treat event on Oct. 31. Children up to the age of 8 can choose from one of the coloring sheets provided featuring Officer Daubs or K9 Taj. Completed coloring sheets should be submitted by Nov. 7.

Uptown Marion will come alive with Halloween fun on Saturday, Oct. 25, as two free community events fill the district with costumes and creativity. Families can enjoy the Marion Monster Mash in City Square followed by the Uptown Marion Spooktacular dining event at participating restaurants.
