Join the Marion Parks and Recreation Department on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 between 5:30-7 p.m. to provide input on the next phase of improvements scheduled at Lowe Park. An all-inclusive playground, open air pavilion and restroom facility are planned near the south entrance to the park at Irish Drive.

The plan encourages walking and biking to school and was created using input from the City of Marion, Marion Independent School District, Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Linn County Public Health and feedback from community members, students and parents within the district.

On Friday, Dec. 29, with 17 years as Marion’s City Engineer and a 39-year career in public service, Dan Whitlow will retire from the City of Marion. The City is hosting a retirement reception and open house in his honor on Friday, Dec. 29 from 3-4:30 p.m. on the first floor at Marion City Hall.

On December 6, 2017, the 5th Avenue and 15th Street intersection was reopened to traffic, along with 14th Street south of 7th Avenue.
