Kelvin Unemin serves as an At-Large member of the Marion City Council, bringing professional experience in municipal finance, procurement, and public administration. In his civilian role, he oversees public procurement, contract administration, and compliance, with an emphasis on efficiency, accountability, and safeguarding taxpayer resources.
Kelvin has proudly served in the Iowa Army National Guard, where his experience reinforced the importance of discipline, logistics, and mission-focused leadership. He applies those principles to public service by emphasizing preparedness, long-term planning, and practical decision-making.
He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration and believes strongly in the role of education and continuous learning in effective governance. On Council, Kelvin focuses on fiscal responsibility, strategic infrastructure investment, and policies that support sustainable growth and a strong local economy.
Outside of public service, Kelvin enjoys woodworking, a hands-on hobby that reflects his appreciation for craftsmanship, patience, and problem-solving. He also values traveling with his family, viewing travel as an opportunity for cultural education and gaining broader perspectives that inform thoughtful leadership and community understanding.
