The Linn County Conservation Department will be conducting prescribed prairie burns of natural areas at Wanatee Park this week.
Prescribed burning is a common tool used in the management of natural areas and promotes the development of a diverse selection of native grasses, forbs, shrubs and trees. A seasonal burn plan improves native habitat and suppresses invasive species.
The plans have been approved and permitted by the Linn County Health Department – Air Quality Division.
Contact the Marion Fire Department at (319) 377-8237 with questions or for additional information.
