Marion Installs 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline Decals on Select City Vehicles

Post Date:09/24/2025 2:58 PM
Coinciding with National Suicide Prevention Month, the City of Marion has added 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline decals to 18 vehicles in its Police, Fire and Public Works departments.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Marion is proud to be the first city in Linn County to add this life safety message to some of our fleet,” said Mayor Nick AbouAssaly. “This is a simple way for us to bring awareness to a life-saving free mental health resource that is available to our residents.”

The decals can be found on the Police Department’s school resource officer vehicles, the Fire Department’s staff vehicles and the garbage and recycling trucks in the Public Works Department.

The decals and installation costs were funded by a donation from HOPEwalk CR.
