At 7:43 a.m. today, July 11, both Marion Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to a Medical Priority 1 call in the 3400 block of Quail Trial Court in Marion.

While en route, the responding crew learned there was smoke and fire in the building. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:48 a.m. and removed one individual from the residence where there was smoke and fire.

Area Ambulance Service paramedics quickly assessed the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

The incident is under investigation in coordination with the Marion Police Department and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
