The City of Marion is grateful that the Iowa Supreme Court’s June 6, 2025, ruling makes it clear that when Ms. Rheeder expressed concerns about her work environment in 2019, the City took the necessary steps required by law to address her concerns. This includes promptly investigating her claims and implementing remedial measures to allow her to feel comfortable at work. In reviewing the facts of the case, the Iowa Supreme Court found that the City had complied with the Iowa Civil Rights Act. The City remains committed to adhering to all applicable employment policies and laws, and to fostering a positive work environment for its employees.
