Walk Your Wheels Pedestrian Zone graphicMarion’s shared-use paths are intended for use by people, pets and bicyclists. To ensure safety in the vibrant Uptown Marion District, the Walk Your Wheels program aims to avoid bike and pedestrian conflict points.

The Walk Your Wheels zones are located on 6th, 7th and 8th Avenues from 10th to 13th Streets. Riders have the option to move to the street or walk their wheels in the established zones.

New signage is currently being installed to help educate and promote safe practices.

The ordinance pertaining to riding on sidewalks in the business district reads as follows:

Except for persons with a disability that have specially equipped bicycles or children under the age of 13 and accompanying an adult, no person shall ride a bicycle or stand-up scooter on a sidewalk or shared-use path within the right-of-way of 6th Avenue, 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue from 10th Street to 13th Street.

Together we can help keep Uptown Marion a thriving district and safe place for all ages and abilities.
