Marion Pool Open House to be Held During First Farmers Market at Willowood Park

Post Date:04/30/2025 5:35 PM

As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the future of Marion’s aquatic offerings, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will host a public open house at the Marion Pool on Saturday, May 3, from 8–11 a.m. at Willowood Park, 1855 35th Street. The event will take place during the weekly Marion Farmers Market happening onsite that day.

This drop-in event invites community members to walk through the pool facility before it is filled and opened for the summer season. Attendees will be able to view the mechanical spaces and aging infrastructure, ask questions of staff and gain firsthand insight into the maintenance and investment required to operate the nearly 40-year-old facility.

“This is a great chance for our residents to take a look behind the curtain at what it takes to run the Marion Pool,” said Parks and Recreation Director Seth Staashelm. “While the facility has served us well for many years, it is showing its age. This is a rare opportunity to walk through the mechanical spaces before the pool is filled for the season.”

Visuals will be on display to help explain some of the planned improvements and what is being considered in the development of a new outdoor aquatic park.

Attendees are encouraged to visit the open house before or after browsing the Marion Farmers Market at Willowood Park between 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3.
