Last week, City Council approved new regulations regarding the licensing of Mobile Food Units. The new regulations will help protect the investment our brick and mortar businesses have made while still allowing mobile food units to thrive.
Mobile Food Units are defined as any food establishment that is a readily movable vehicle or trailer (on wheels), that is self-propelled (driven) or can be pulled to a location and used for the vending of food/beverage for immediate consumption. Licenses will be available on an annual basis (January to December) or for a single event (1-3 days.)
A few of the application requirements include a description of kitchen and cooking facilities, copy of Linn County mobile food unit license, proof of insurance, fire inspection and more. Additional requirements outline when and where mobile food units may operate.
The application and a complete list of licensing, inspection and location requirements can be found at www.cityofmarion.org/licensing.
