Nicolas AbouAssaly, current city council member representing Ward 4, was elected Marion’s next mayor on Nov. 3.
Kim Etzel was re-elected to her Ward 1 seat on the council, and Will Brandt was elected to the Ward 3. At-large candidate Paul Draper ran unopposed and will begin his second term in January.
All will take office Jan. 2, except for the Ward 3 winner who will be sworn in Nov. 19 at the council meeting due to a vacancy left when former Ward 3 council representative Cody Crawford resigned on Sept. 30.
Council members not yet up for reelection include Mary Lou Pazour, at-large and Joe Spinks, Ward 2.
The Marion City Council is made up of seven members, including the mayor, who serve staggered four-year terms.
