Mayor Declares Local State of Emergency in Marion

Marion Mayor Nicolas AbouAssaly has declared a local state of emergency in Marion in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19). The declaration authorizes deployment of all available municipal resources and participation in the Linn County Comprehensive Emergency Plan, increases the City Manager’s emergency spending authority, and positions the City for reimbursement of disaster response expenses.

“While this is not a time to panic, it is a serious matter,” said Mayor AbouAssaly. “With this proclamation, we are taking additional steps to protect the health and safety of Marion residents. I am confident, that by all of us doing our part and working together, we will emerge as an even stronger community.”

The City of Marion will continue to monitor the situation and make informed decisions that support public health and minimize the potential impact of COVID-19.
