Local Sustainability Expert Kelli Kennon-Lane to Kick-off Environmental Series
On Saturday, Feb. 22, from 2-4 p.m. at Lowe Park, the City of Marion will host its first “Be a Force of Nature” event. Kelli Kennon-Lane from the Indian Creek Nature Center will offer practical tips for reducing waste inside the home.
This event is open to all -- those who are just beginning to explore the idea of making their home greener, those who are environmental experts, and those who simply want to put out less trash each week. Kennon-Lane will also discuss “greenwashing,” and how to spot deceptive claims of sustainability.
This event is part of a series of three programs. The next event on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Marion Public Library, “zooms out” by focusing on green practices in the yard and offering free seeds to start a garden. The final event in the series, on Wednesday, April 22 (Earth Day), is at 5:30 p.m. at Lowe Park. It will zoom out event further with speakers discussing community projects and tips for getting involved in Marion.
All three “Be a Force of Nature” events are free and open to the public.
