Public Invited to Share Ideas for Uptown Marion's Alleyways
ImaginArt in the Alleys is pleased to announce the launch of its new community engagement platform, http://imaginartinthealleys.mindmixer.com, developed by MindMixer. This online portal allows residents to engage, communicate and collaborate with community decision makers and other residents on the future development of Marion’s alley project.
ImaginArt in the Alleys will bring life, vitality and art to Uptown Marion alleyways, while helping to create secondary entrances for businesses along 7th Avenue. The project was awarded a $350,000 ArtPlace America grant last year, the 13th highest amount to be awarded to applicants from across the nation. The City is contributing funds to support infrastructure improvements. Public and private fundraising will also support the project.
The MindMixer site serves as an online tool to generate new ideas and feedback from citizens using an interactive and accessible new platform. Feedback will be used by project leaders as they visualize and prioritize next steps for the project.
The discussion will encourage the sharing of ideas and images and also ask residents to rank and prioritize ideas that have already been gathered. Visit http://imaginartinthealleys.mindmixer.com to join in the conversation.
This ArtPlace America project is a collaborative effort between the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Uptown Marion (an Iowa Main Street District), and the City of Marion. The 18-month project is facilitated by Art Director Karen Hoyt and supported by a Public Art Committee. Shive-Hattery has been hired through a competitive bid process to provide specialized engineering services.
