Arbor Day Tree Planting Planned in Marion
The Marion Parks and Recreation Department and Trees Forever are teaming up to celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting ceremony at noon on Friday, April 29. The planting will take place at the Urban Orchard at Lowe Park, located at 4500 N. 10th Street in Marion.
The event will include remarks from local supporters as well as the planting of three fruit trees to expand the offerings of the orchard. Proper tree planting techniques will be demonstrated and all are welcome to attend.
Arbor Day is an annual observance that celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care. As a formal holiday, it was first observed in 1872, in Nebraska, but tree planting festivals are as old as civilization.
