Ribbon Cutting set to mark Completion of S. 11th Street Project
Road will officially open following the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8.
City staff, elected officials and Chamber Ambassadors will gather on Friday, Aug. 8 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the South 11th Street reconstruction project. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of South 11th Street and A Avenue. The road will officially open to traffic following the ceremony.
The project began in 2011 and required the complete reconstruction of South 11th Street from Grand Avenue to 1st Avenue. The project was divided into multiple stages in order to maintain emergency access to the adjacent neighborhoods.
The scope of the project included the installation of a new 10 ft. x 6 ft. box culvert and the replacement and installation of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and utility conduit. Three lanes of concrete pavement, street lights, multi-use sidewalks and landscaping were also installed.
Total project cost is just over $3.4 million with funding covered in part by local option sales tax, stormwater management fees, and bonds.
