In 2017, the State approved the sale of fireworks in Iowa.On Nov. 21, Marion City Council approved an ordinance revising the number of days/times consumer fireworks are permissible within Marion city limits.
Fireworks can be purchased and used only by persons 18 years of age or older.
Consumer fireworks usage is allowed in Marion on the following dates/times:
- Dec. 31, 2017 6 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1
- July 4, 2018 noon - 11 p.m.
Fireworks may be used:
- on the user's property
- on the property of someone who has given permission for the use of fireworks on their property
