The following are projects that public notice has been sent via postcard.  The meetings are conducted at Marion City Hall (1225 6th Avenue) unless otherwise noted.  Project information is removed following final action  (approval / denial) by the Marion City Council.  If you are looking for a project not listed please contact the Marion Planning and Development Department at 319-743-6320.

Whispering Estate Addition Final Plat to Linn County

The applicant is requesting a farmstead split of an approximately 41 acre parcel. The split would create one lot, along with an outlot and a lettered lot.  The property is located south of Martin Creek Road and east of Highway 13. Marion reviews county plats located within 2-miles of the city boundary and makes recommendation to the Linn County Board of Supervisors whom make the final decision.

The applicants are seeking approval of a land use map amendment and rezone property from A-1, Rural Restricted to C-3, General Commercial and R-2, Medium Density Single Family Residential and a Preliminary Plat for property located east of Alburnett Road and west of Irish Drive and on either side of Tower Terrace Road.  A conceptual layout has been provided by the applicant of how the property could develop, not necessarily how it will develop.  Property owners within 300' of the project boundary were notified.

The City Council has directed staff to create regulations regarding size and locations of accessory structures (Garages / Sheds) on residential properties.

The City of Marion is seeking to update portions of Chapter 176 (Zoning Regulations) specifically "176.06 Rules and Definitions", "176.33 Non Conforming Uses, Buildings and Structures", 176.04  Establishments of Districts and Map" and "176.51 New Zoning Districts Classifications".  The new zoning districts will eventually replace all existing zoning classifications and will be reflected in a future zoning map update.
