The following are projects that public notice has been sent via postcard.  The meetings are conducted at Marion City Hall (1225 6th Avenue) unless otherwise noted.  Project information is removed following final action  (approval / denial) by the Marion City Council.  If you are looking for a project not listed please contact the Marion Planning and Development Department at 319-743-6320.

Staff has worked with Stanley Consultants to create an extension of the 2009 Marion Central Corridor Master Plan. The Plan focuses on creating zoning districts, establishing design standards, and identifying permitted uses for those properties located between 2nd Street & 31st Street and 5th Avenue & 9th Avenue.

The Central Corridor Zoning Districts Plan - 2019 currently being considered for adoption creates new zoning districts. With these new districts, code amendments to Chapter 176, Zoning Regulations are required.

Linn-Mar Community School District is seeking approval of a conditional use to permit the construction of an intermediate school within the A-1, Rural Restricted zoning district located on the east side of Echo Hill Elementary School.

The Neighborhood at Indian Creek Plan was originally adopted in 2009 and incorporates the area between Tower Terrace Road extended & 35th Avenue and between 35th Street & 44th Street extended. In 2017, the City contracted with RDG Planning & Design to update the Plan and regain development perspective for land use and aesthetic purposes going forward. RDG will be at the P&Z meeting on March 12th to present the Plan to the Commission.

Updates made to The Neighborhood at Indian Creek Plan document require amendments to the Future Land Use Map of the Marion Comprehensive Plan, as well as, zoning the property to Planned Development Special. Planned Development Special will allow for a variety of housing options and compatible neighborhood commercial and personal services in a concentrated area that aligns with creating a pedestrian focus.
