Marion Central Corridor Master Plan
In early 2009 the City of Marion contracted with Olsson Associates to create the Central Corridor Master Plan to guide the City in the redevelopment of an area between Uptown Marion and 35th Street along 7th Avenue. The project was to build on $1.7 million dollar study, on the environmental status of 281 properties within the former railroad corridor. For many residents and visitors to the community, the Central Corridor is a highly visible, front door to the community now characterized by inconsistent land uses, under-utilized properties and environmental impairments.

West End Corridor Plan
The Marion West End Corridor Plan is the third and final component toward enhancing commerce and the aesthetic appeal of the community's primary entryways.
First completed was the Central Corridor Maser Plan which looked generally at the areas between 9th and 35th Streets. Upon approval, the Uptown Marion Plan was prepared with extensive citizen input which provided detailed design concepts for the Uptown Area (9th to 15th Streets) specifically. The over-arching vision of this project is to create an enhanced business and pedestrian climate for west 7th Avenue from approximately the western city limits on Marion Boulevard to 9th Street.
