Youth Tennis Lessons
CHILDREN AGES 5–16

The Marion Parks and Recreation Department will once again offer youth tennis classes as part of a partnership with
Westfield Tennis Club. Classes are led by instructors that have been trained by highly qualified and certified tennis professionals. Minimum class size 2, maximum class size 10. Only rain dates will be made up.

TOTS-CHILDREN AGES 5 & 6

This class is an introduction to tennis and meant to develop basic tennis skills such as hand-eye coordination and motor skills associated with tennis.

This class is for the junior who is just beginning to play tennis. We provide a fun environment while teaching basic strokes and rules of the game.

The emphasis is on control and consistency. Drills will introduce directional intent and improve mechanics.

INTERMEDIATE-CHILDREN AGES 12–16

This clinic is intended for students who will be or are currently participating on their middle or high school team. Both boys and girls
are welcome. This clinic will offer these students a chance to learn, or brush up on their fundamentals. It will also prepare them for playing matches against other students around their age.

Little Pigskins Football Camp
CHILDREN AGES 4–6

Children are introduced to the basics of football without the contact, learning the skills necessary to play football. Staff combine fun and
fundamentals through skill-building drills, activities, and games while emphasizing the importance of good sportsmanship. Limited number of spots available.

NEW! For the Love of Music Camps
CHILDREN GRADES K–5TH

for the love of music

Session 3: Piano Play (K-2nd grade)

Students will discover the rhythms and symbols used when writing music and how to translate that to the piano. Then students will compose their own piece of music for piano. The class will end with a premier of each student’s piece. Limit 16 participants.

Session 4: Stomping Music (3rd-5th grade)

Student will be introduced to STOMP music! We will explore making music with various “unconventional” instruments. Student will create a STOMP piece of their own. The class will end with a premier of the student's pieces. Limit 20 participants.

Magic Camp 101
CHILDREN AGES 10+*

magic campAre your kids fascinated with the world of Magic or want to learn more about the art of magic? Join local magician, Tim Stolba, and learn to perform fabulous feats of amazing magic with ordinary objects such as ropes, coins, rubber bands, cards, and more. Props are provided as part of the program. This class briefly explores the history and theory of magic, famous magicians, code of ethics, types of magic, magic “vocabulary”, performance techniques, developing a stage persona and of course learning magic tricks! Limit 12 participants per session.

PeeWee Flag Football
CHILDREN GRADES K–1ST (FALL 2019/20)

flag footballThis instructional league is run like a mini clinic that teaches the fundamentals of football. These include such things as: throwing, catching, running, blocking, hand-offs, learning plays/formations, etc. Players have instructional practices the first 3 nights and games the remaining 5 night of the program. Youth Flag Football
CHILDREN GRADES 2ND–6TH (FALL 2019/20)

This is a recreational league with emphasis on fundamentals and skill development. Coaches schedule their own practices beginning in mid-August with games beginning in early September. A 6-game season will be played by each team. There will be a coaches meeting prior to practices being scheduled. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

Start Smart Lacrosse Camp
CHILDREN AGES 6–10

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in America and just making its way into the mid-west. This camp will introduce children to the basics of lacrosse in a non-contact format. Learn the skills of shooting,  passing, catching, cradling, stick handling, running, agility, rules and basic game format. Limited number of spots available.

NEW! Fall 3v3 Soccer League
CHILDREN GRADES K–2ND

Didn't get enough soccer this spring? Give this new 3v3 soccer league a try! The first night of program will be a practice and refresher of
basic soccer skills and fundamentals, after that its all games in a 3v3 format. Keeping the teams small will engage the kids more by allowing more opportunities to touch and handle the ball. Referees will help coach and facilitate the games. Limited number of spots available.

The Painted Pumpkin
CHILDREN AGES 3+

No carving here! Help us decorate the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center for Halloween. Painters will receive one pumpkin with their
registration to decorate to their liking. Paint and limited craft supplies will be provided. Pumpkins will be voted on by a combination of staff, public and Facebook “Likes”.

Putt-Putt Indoor Golf

An introduction to putting using the S.N.A.G. (Starting New At Golf) system. Children will learn proper stance and grip as well as proper
stroke and pace. Kids will practice putting through a variety of obstacles and play rounds of "mini golf " to practice their skills. Limited number of spots available.

Lil' Tykes Basketball Camp
CHILDREN AGES 3–8

Join the Marion Parks and Recreation staff this fall for this youth basketball program. This program is held outdoors at the Thomas
Park basketball courts. Children will learn and practice a variety of basic fundamentals such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and more through a variety of drills and fun skill-building exercises.

Youth 5 on 5 Basketball
CHILDREN GRADES 2ND–6TH (FALL 2019/20)

League is divided into 2nd/3rd grades and 4th/5th/6th grades. Boys and girls play in separate divisions. This recreational league works on teaching the fundamentals of basketball and stressing the importance of good sportsmanship and having fun while playing the game. One hour practices held once or twice a week, beginning in mid-November, Monday–Friday. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

See what the elf culture is all about by bringing your kids to Santa’s Little Workshop for an afternoon filled with games, crafts, snacks, music, movies, and more. Drop your kids off and finish up some Christmas errands or present wrapping. Limited number of spots available.
