Organized in 2002, the Friends of the Marion Parks, a non-profit organization, promotes the use, the development, and the enjoyment of the Marion Parks. The group creates programs, recruits volunteers, and participates in community events.
The Board of the Friends of the Marion Parks meets the second Thursday, April to September, at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center, 4500 N. 10th St., Marion. Memberships, memorials, and donations comprise the group's revenue. A membership drive occurs In August, but memberships are welcome anytime. All are tax-deductible. A newsletter summarizing the year's activities is sent to members and is available to the public.
If you have ideas for park projects, are interested in volunteering, or would like to serve on the Board, please contact the Marion Parks Dept. 447-3590 for more information.
