Central Corridor Plan and Zoning Map Amendment
The City of Marion worked with Stanley Consultants starting in 2017 to create an extension of the 2009 Marion Central Corridor Master Plan. This extension, Marion Central Corridor Districts Plan - 2019 focuses on creating zoning districts, establishing design standards, and identifying permitted uses for those properties located between 2nd Street & 31st Street and 5th Avenue & 9th Avenue.
Along with input from staff and the consultant, the Central Corridor Advisory Committee met several times to go over the document, ask questions, and provide feedback. The Plan’s zoning districts, design standards and permitted uses are intended to replace Section 176.50, Central Corridor Interim Development Overlay (IDO); creating Section 176.50, Central Corridor Zoning Districts. Many of the standards within the IDO are being carried forward into the Plan and code amendments, along with the review process that was established as part of the IDO.
