Butterfield Skate Park Ribbon Cutting Rescheduled for May 14
Due to impending weather, the ribbon cutting originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at noon.
The event will celebrate the completion and official opening of the city's first skate park at Butterfield Park. Located within Butterfield Park, 3500 29th Ave., the skate park features a variety of ramps, rails and other elements suitable for people from beginners to more experienced skaters.
In 2016, the Parks and Recreation Department developed a Master Plan with input from a steering committee and the public. The skate park was one of the goals defined to expand and improve the City’s park facilities.
Spohn Ranch Inc., an award winning skate park designer and builder from California, was selected to develop the concrete skate park at Butterfield Park.
The project was funded by local option sales tax (LOST).
