Post Date:04/02/2019 11:45 AM

Marion Public Library, in partnership with Kingston Therapy Services and HACAP, will be screening the powerful documentary, Resilience. Discussion will follow, focused on prevention and treatment for children and families in our community. This film details the lifelong health effects of childhood toxic stress (ACEs) and chronicles the birth of a movement among pediatricians, therapists, educators and communities to break these cycles of violence, addiction and disease. Further details can be found here: https://kpjrfilms.co/resilience/about-the-film/.

This event supports the recognition of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Library will also be drawing awareness to this issue through: the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign, a Love and Logic parenting class beginning the first Monday of April, and continued dedication to being a ‘No Hit Zone’.

“Marion Public Library is committed to providing an environment of safety and health for our patrons and staff. Safe, healthy, and nurturing relationships and environments are needed throughout life for people to thrive,” explains Olivia Stoner, Children’s and Family Services Manager.

This free event will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Due to the subject matter, this viewing is best suited for a teen and adult audience.
