Marion Fire Department to Hold a Live House Burn on October 6
In an effort to improve firefighting skills, the Marion Fire Department will be conducting a live house burn on Saturday, Oct.6. This training will take place at 880 2nd Street. The estimated training times are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Fire Department will be setting and extinguishing several fires inside the house and burning the structure to the ground. This training will produce smoke. The Marion Fire Department will do their best to avoid smoke coming towards homes, but it is advisable that houses near 880 2nd Street keep their windows and doors closed while the burn is in progress.
If the wind is too strong on Saturday, Oct. 6, the training will be rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, weather permitting.
If you are interested in watching the training, there will be a designated area for spectators.
Questions or concerns may be directed to the Marion Fire Department at 377-8237.
