Marion City Council Forums Announced

Marion residents will have two opportunities to hear from Marion City Council candidates prior to election day.

Candidates for Marion City Council are as follows: 

  • Council at Large: Bruce Cummins and Randy Strnad 
  • Council Member Ward 2: Steve Jensen and Peter Johnson 
  • Council Member Ward 4: Rene Gadelha

The Marion Chamber and MEDCO will host the first forum on October 12. The forum will follow a question and answer format giving voters an opportunity to submit questions to a moderator.

Thursday, Oct. 12 from 7-8:30 p.m.
Linn-Mar High School Little Theater, 3111 10th St

The Linn County League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum on Oct. 23. All candidates will be invited to attend. Ward 2 Forum will begin at 6 p.m., the At Large Forum will begin at 7:20 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 23 from 6-8:35 p.m.
Lowe Park, 4500 N 10th St, Marion

The election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7.  


Voter Information

Voting In-Person
As of Monday, Oct. 9, individuals may vote in-person at the Election Services Department of the Auditor’s Office. The office is located in the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 

Voting by Mail
Voters may also request to have an absentee ballot mailed to them. These voters may return their ballot by mail or hand-deliver their ballot to the Election Services Department. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 in order to be counted.
