Library Customer Service Experience & Access Services
- Type:Full Time
- Salary/Pay Rate:$51,825 to commensurate
- Posted Date:04/10/2017

The Marion Public Library is seeking a forward-thinking, progressive leader passionate about access services and customer experience. We are a busy library that embodies collaborative work and decision-making; all library leadership participates in strategic planning, agency goal setting, facilitative leadership, and service design, in addition to providing regular direct public service. We truly aspire to serve all who approach us, whether that’s in person or via remote access.
This is an exciting time to join the staff at MPL. With a new library building project in the planning stages and a rapidly growing service population, we are transitioning into a larger, more dynamic agency. Marion is a great place to live and work, with a wide variety of activities for all ages and a family-friendly atmosphere, and is a thriving community in Iowa’s Creative Corridor.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to shift between systems thinking and the execution and design of detailed policies and practices seamlessly. We seek a candidate with a commitment to hospitality and dedication to facilitating access to the full suite of library services and materials (and beyond), and someone with true change readiness. We need someone who can identify obstacles to access in current practices and work with the leadership team and our consortium-mates to find real solutions. We’re trying new things and enjoying the nimbleness our agency size, open-minded board, and quickly growing community allows. This position is being reposted with new educational requirements and compensation details.
If you’re looking for a challenging, collaborative, and exciting position at a changing library in a growing community, we welcome your application.
This position is full time (40 hours/week) and includes evening and weekend hours. Please see the job description for full details. Salary range starts at $51,825, commensurate with relevant experience, and includes a competitive benefits package.
To apply, submit a completed City of Marion application, resume, and cover letter to Human Resources via HR@cityofmarion.org Applications accepted until May 5th at 4:300pm. The City of Marion is an EEOC employer.
